Hi I bought my son a slazenger cricket bat from Cricketdirect.com it cost 80.00! it has developed 2 faults in 2 weeks the toe guard is peeling off and it has a dent in the wood near the toe guard.
I telephoned the customer services dept and they said to send it back to them (at my cost) and they would inspect it if they agreed there was a fault they would replace or repair it and refund postage .
I dont feel happy with this as it took nearly 4 weeks for them to send it out and i feel that we will be with out the bat and i have payed in full , what would others do in my position, thanks.

Send it back at your expense with a cover letter stating the conditions they have laid out, eg they will refund postage costs (include copy of receipt).
If it is faulty and not user damage they should do as they agreed. You need to bear in mind they might say you damaged it, especially as you had it two weeks.
Might be worth contacting other suppliers and asking them if they had issues reported with the same model of bat. Just something to help you argue your case with them.
If you paid via credit card you can always talk to them as they are jointly liable.

Is it the new slazenger you've bought (the SXI, SX or SE)
I have known the toe guard to come off on these bats as many of my club members have had the same happen to them. With regards to the dent, this could be due to insufficent knocking in(basically just banging it with an old ball or cricket mallet) I have had a broken cricket bat before and I returned it to the seller for a full refund (i think i got it from Decathlon though_ . Good luck with getting your refund0 -
yep its the slazenger SE my son knocked it in wiv a mallet and did this for quite a while (4 days) do you think that the toe guards should come off an 80 pound bat? as this to me doesnt seem very good quality.thanks for your replys havent sent it bac yet.0

The toe guard probably shouldn't have come off but that will happen if a mistime shot on the toe is played(I bought a bat for £250 and the toe guard still fell off!). It depends on how the seller sees the damage, if he sees it as faulty workmanship you will get a refund but if it is a mistimed shot you probably won't. After all the toeguard isn't a key element of the bat but if you are disapointed with your bat you can send it back. Everyone i know with one of the new Slazengers has had a problem with the toe guard so good luck in your refund.0
