Need Tips for Selling Clothes - Used and New

I'm going to shortly be selling a load of clothes in various sizes that i don't need or want any more.
The new clothes will be fairly simple as they all have the tags still on - most are ones i bought for holiday, didn't wear or need and was too late to return them for a refund. I do also have some underwear to sell but i've sold new underwear before (with tags) and not had any problems.
However i've not sold any used clothing before. I know they have to be clean, washed and stain free but does anyone have any more tips?
I'm not in a rush, hoping to wait for a free listing day, so have time to prepare pictures, measurements etc. I have a 100% selling rating with almost 150 ratings.
When is the best time to finish auctions? What information do i need to put in the listing?
Many thanks in advance.

its the same principle when selling clothes that have been worn, to selling anything else,
make sure you are honest in your listings,
say its been worn, and has been washed/cleaned etc
if there is any mark doesnt matter how small mention it in the listing,
when giving the size of the clothes, i also give measurements too,
the best time for an auction to end ( in my opinion) is sunday evening, so if you are going to do a 10 day listing, you will have to list on a thursday for the item to end on a sunday.
i also make sure that i pack them nicely too, i use clear garment bags, and wrap in tissue, and then use a plastic posting bag.
ooo ye and i put a thank you business card in with the item too.
i havent listed any clothes lately, as i have read on various forums that clothes are slow selling...

why dont you use photobucket and put the photos in your listing, and it will not cost you a penny for adding photos;):DWork to live= not live to work0 -

If I remember correctly (and you know I can get muddled!) clothes are one of the categories where you now get the picture pack free...so no additional costs for 12 photos.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Clothes have been free for a while which is why I now use that route as opposed to C&P html.
Much quicker.
Supersize etc is also now free and all pics are above the fold.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

all these changes i cant keep up with them:rolleyes:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Put a really good photo up, make sure you include photos of any nice details or marks/imperfections in the clothes, like someone has said you can list 12 photos of clothes for free. Describe it well, instead of writing 'A green T-shirt' write 'A lovely dark green T-shirt in Size 12, originally from River Island...' etc etc.

When selling clothes on ebay there are two bits of advice i'd give.
1. Brand names sell better than non brand names. I think people search using "Hugo Boss" etc, so add it in your title.
2. I find often there will only be one bidder, so set the item to start at a price you will accept.

It is worth putting the size in your title, as lots of people search for 'coat 16' or whatever.
Also as someone else has said, describe the item in as much detail as possible - brand, size, fabric, embellishments, imperfections, actual measurements and photos. Also photos on screen can be deceptive on colour, so it is worth being descriptive about the colour - 'a deep forest green' also check the photo once it is on ebay, and if necessary add a further comment (I've seen lots of clothes decribed in the listings as black, but which look purple or brown in the pics).
The main thing though is to be honest, as an dis-satisfied customer can trash your feedback AND your ratings...
I bought some cotton trousers on e-bay this week. I particularly wanted cotton as I wanted them to take on holiday to a hot country and I actually e-mailed the seller to confirm before bidding. When they arrived, they were rayon, which I would not have bought had I known. When I complained to the seller he responded 'Have you ever actually worn rayon in a hot country? My mum prefers rayon, she says it is much more comfortable than cotton'
I didn't return them as they only cost £1.99, and the postage was £3.50 (which as it turned out was way over the top as the trousers were incredibly light and flimsy). But I did give him a neg, and I also made my discontent clear in the star rating.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
The biggest mistake I make when selling clothes is over estimating the postage costs because I think the package looks big - so weigh the clothes (with your packaging) if you want to keep your DSRs for postage good.0
