What on earth is 'Automated Credit'

So, I wake up this morning and check my bank account, surprisingly I find a payment of £118 received, filed under the title of 'Automated Credit'.
Does anyone have any idea where and why this money is in my bank. I have no intention of ringing the bank and asking them, by the way, as it could be a mistake.:money:

An Automated Credit is any payment into your account that is not cash or cheque. Ring your bank, if it is a mistake it can be resolved.0

It's an automated, as opposed to manual credit. So it's a BACS/CHAPS or transfer to you.0

Strange, I've actually gotten to the bottom of where it's come from.
It's a payment from an affiliate network I used in the past for advertising campaigns. They deactivated my account 3 months back, and stole about £1,200 from me. Why out of the blue they've sent me £118.00 I don't know. My account is still deactivated, so more confused than I was to begin with.
Long may it continue. Thanks for the help people.0
