Clarks shoes - different sizes!

I bought school shoes for DS and DD at the beginning of August, ready for them starting school on 8th September.
So they have now been back at school almost 2 weeks - I was just tidying up the shoes this morning when I happened to look at the soles of DS's shoes - one is a size 13.5 and the other is a size 1!
Obviously I didnt notice this at the time of purchase, but where do I stand now? - they have obviously been worn - he has seemed reluctant to wear them though - no wonder, they were probably uncomfortable!
Any suggestions? - I still have the box and the receipt.

Interesting one - was he fitted, or did you just ask for a certain size? Whilst I would be very surprised if somewhere like Clarks offered separate sizing, his feet could be different sizes, so correctly fitted.
Also, is there any chance that he could have got them mixed up at school?
If there was an error, I think you would have difficulty proving it after this length of time.Gone ... or have I?0 -

They were fitted for him - his feet are definately the same size. I would certainly not think to check that they were both the same size when I bought them, I would just presume that they were..
It is possible that they were mixed up at school, but unlikely as he said that nobody has the same shoes as him (but I will obviously check)0 -
I agree, you shouldn't have to check that they are the same size, especially when the shoes have been fitted.
I still think that you are going to have difficulty proving that you were given different sized shoes after such a long length of time. A day or two into term may have been ok, but it has been a few weeks now.
The only possibility is that they have realised their mistake in a stock check (or with someone else taking odd sized shoes back), and in that case they may be waiting for your call!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Definitely take them back. Clarks as far as I know do not sell odd sized pairs. If you had a big difference in sizes between feet I'm sure you would be expected to buy two pairs. My kids have a half size difference in their feet and we buy the size for the biggest foot, its never been suggested we buy two pairs or have odd sizes. The shoes have either been sent to them like this from their warehouse or more likely been tried on with other pairs on the shop floor and muddled up. Either way the sales assistant has NOT done their job by checking it is a properly sized pair before selling them to you. Their mistake, take them back and get them changed.0

I agree it has been a while since I bought them but they have only actually been worn to school 6 times (he wore his trainers twice).
I will take them back and see what they say.0 -
Yes, take them back (with your son) and ask for the fitting to be checked. I suspect you'll find Clark's will be happy to refit the shoes, considering that they make a big selling point of their fitting service for children. I would be surprised if you have any problems returning the shoes. After all, it's not you that has been wearing the shoes but a child. A child can't be expected to figure out that the reason his feet aren't comfortable is because of a mistake made by a shop assistant.
Clarks used to sell different sized shoes for children, if the measuring came out different. Size 13.5 is only a half-size difference, so it's not very much. But I read in a different forum that Clarks no longer sell odd-sized shoes even for children, in which case a mistake must have been made.0 -
tbh I would have a word with the teacher (I am assuming primary here) and check.
My son came home in someone else's shoes once; DD in someone else's tights (because I don't sew nametapes in tights) and although we sorted out the shoe debacle and my son never ever brought home the tie he had with his name on...I ended up sewing a nametape in the tie he 'appropriated' - and THAT was at secondary. Never got DDs original tights back, either! It's quite common to find more than one child with exactly the same style of shoes tbh They never 'quite' know what's theirs. The row over orange juice in Y3 last term was something to be seen. One Asda carton; one Morrison's carton and two boys who could not agree which was theirs BUT neither of their parents ever shopped at asda! Well it was just the same stuff so I allocated one each...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Clarks do still sell odd pairs of shoes if they are needed.
As others have said it is the stores mistake & you should have no problems getting them exchanged.
Mistakes happen....they shouldn't but unfortunately they do.
Have you taken them back? How did you get on?Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0
