car servicing question

I have a lexus on contract hire and the serving costs a pretty steep. Its up for it first service (10k), I was told by the dealer im bound by the contract to have it serviced at lexus but a chap that owns a garage told me last nite new legislation has been enforced meaning that all cars can now be serviced by any gagrage now. Has anyone heard of this or are we talking about an urban myth??

  • If you owned the car you could go elsewhere (see BER/Block Exemption) - but as you lease it, I'm betting that it says in your contract that you have to go to a dealership. Read the lease rules and regs.
