Honeymoon cruise help

We're looking at a cruise for our honeymoon next August.
We're limited to school holidays because of work but I'm a little worried about the ship being full of kids. The cruise we're interested in is NCL Gem 7 days Venice-Greek Isles-Venice, with a few days in various bits of Italy either side.
Does this sounds like a good honeymoon? We both like the idea but have never cruised before.
Also does anyone have any advice for the cheapest/best way to book?
Thanks in advance
Sarah

I would say you wil certainly encounter kids on a cruise ship during August holidays, however you should consider a less children friendly cruise line to help your cause.
We did a fantastic cruise around italy for honeymoon many years ago,so I think its a great destination.
Your options are to wait a couple of weeks til the kids have gone back to school, and the price will be much cheaper,so you could get a more luxurious room/line for your money. Or to take the plunge, and of course it will be very hot in august and more crowded!
What is your budget ppn?
I can then give you an idea as I am a forum guide on a cruise guide website, pm me if you have any queries0 -
I'm a teacher so I'm afraid I can't wait until September! Obviously I like kids and don't mind there being some around, but we don't want a huge amount a kids around - I spend enough time with them!
Which cruise lines to do you think would be more adult-friendly? We are both quite young (early- mid 20s).
Thanks for your help!0 -
Hi, it relly depends on what you want to spend per person as to what I would really recommend, there are alot of good lines out there, and some outstanding lines, but what you have to spend depends on this.0

Sorry for the late reply.
We're looking to spend about £2000 for the both of us. We can't leave until after the 9th August, and will travel separately - have got other plans for before/after.
Thanks very much for your help.0 -
what about going for an adult only ship although I have to say that when we have traveled with our children we never see them because of the great child facilities. I would say a cruise would make a fantastic honey moon in fact we have three second third and forth honeymoons booked all thru Cruisekings, and all on p & o our prefered line.
Have a wonderful time

Depends what you arelooking for , I really like NCL because it is so laid back but then so is royal carribean. All the major lines have kids clubs and I have found that a lot of the kids tend to go to these, stay away from the family pools as well - most ships have adult only areas and at least 1 adult only pool. I wouldn't consider an adult only ship because they tend to attract an older set of people and at 30 then NCL and Royal Carribean are much more suitable for me ! The bigger the ship the better the facilities and the more there is to keep the kids occupied0

For good deals try Thomas cook they have some really good prices and freebies ie onboard credit, free car parking, up grades etc and NCL is one of their preferred suppliers.0

For your first cruise it doesn't matter much which cruise line you travel with, as the mass market ships are almost identical. For £2k you are in the mass market sector. Some will say this and others that, but at the end of the day almost all will be a fabulous holiday especially a honeymoon.
I have always had the best deals the later I booked. The risk is minimal as there are so many cruise ships to choose from, just be a little flexible and you will save up to 50%.0 -
As a fellow teacher I appreciate the kids things. Me and another teacher went on a cruise this summer together and were really surprised that the kids pretty much kept away from us! (they smell a teacher!) I think there was prob a very good kids club that did all ages ( some stop at 12ish I think). That's want you want. Around the pool they were more apparent but some ships have adult only pools.
In fact we were so protected from seeing kids that one evening we were sat out having a drink and could hear the old classic 'everywhere we gooooo...' chant and hundreds of tiny little kids snaked around the deck and disappeared again. Never to be seen again!
Always on the hunt for a bargain.0 -

I think that you should look at cruise dates and plan your days either side of a cruise that appeals, but then only book the actual cruise at the point when the final payment is due, usually 90 days out......you will save a fortune.
As you will need only a 2 berth you will be able to get a really good deal.0
