What do your kids listen to?

Bit of a strange request this one! Just wondering what music children between the ages of 5 and 11 are listening to in 2009 - gotta do a presentation aimed at this age group and at the ripe old age of 27 and having no kids myself as yet, I am stumped - I don't think I've ever felt so old and out of it - lol!

What artists are your children listening to, what's in???

TIA

  • Ummm well this isn't typical but my DS has been listening to Kiss since age 3...though he now prefers Kings of Leon (he is now 7).

My nephew, 9, likes Kings of Leon and Razorlight.

  • DS is 9 and likes Muse and Lilly Allen.

Having said that he was humming along to Jonny Cash the other day too. But then OH has a huge music collection and DS is exposed to all of it - including Chaz and Dave unfortunately.

just listen in to any top 10 radio or tv show - but my grandkids tend to have very eclectic taste in music! everything from lily allen to kings of leon! lady gaga is popular with younger set too. anything from tv jingles (for some reason the LV insurance one is a great fave of Grandson 23months - he calls cilla black luff luff when she is on) music from films is a good bet - check out hannah montana and high school musical as well as disney ones like lion king and little mermaid. hope this helps.

  • My daughter is 11 and likes Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott and Lady Gaga.
  • My DD's 9 and 3 are enjoy listening to anything that we have on although DD1 is satrting to get into R&B. I agree with what others have said Hannah Montana, Girls aloud etc. Both DD's really like Kanye West and Dizzie Rascal etc too........ think this is the consequence of us having MTV on in the house alot of the time.

Having said all that, when they are in the car with my Mum and Dad they have a good sing along to Abba, Queen and Elvis :rotfl:.
