Possibly Old Problem.

I have done a search but not been able to bring anything up.

My husband bought an item for a very small amount £1.99p The seller e-mailed him to say he had received his payment which was by postal order. A week later no item. Husband e-mails several times to which he is told the item was sent on the ..... but he would go to the Post Office on the following day. Husband didn't hear anything again, was led to believe the seller would claim back the cost and refund his money. Despite yet more e-mails and lots of mutterings to me of,"Going up there and knocking on his door." there was still nothing. He has since filed a complaint with Ebay who just got an e-mail off seller saying it had been sent out on whatever date, and Ebay have said because it is under £15 they won't pursue it. Isn't it ironical that the one time we don't pay with paypal something goes wrong.
What I want to know, and I am sure this has been asked before, has anyone actually found a phone number for Ebay to complain to? They are quick enough to say that it is a legally binding contract between buyer and seller, but don't want to know unless it involves filling their own pockets with money. I know it is a pifling amount, but it is the principle of it. Husband has tried one more time e-mailing the guy before trying again with the complaints. Since this sale there has been several negative feedbacks for this person on a similar vein. I suppose the most we can hope for is that he is suspended if there is enough negs. Problem being he is bound to leave husband negative going by his previous records. Why the guy can't just either send another item or refund and claim from post office I don't know.

I think as you have the address of the seller you should attempt to get their landline telephone number, I'm sure there are ways of looking this up using the address. Infact bt.com I think has a service to look up a telephone number online.

As for the postal order I would advise never making a payment on eBay with anything other than PayPal, unless the seller has over 150+ positive feedback and this is 100%. Things like Postal Orders are not covered by insurance, and also as you've mentioned eBay will not look into items under the value of £15. As this is the fee they take for giving you that service.

I don't know of any numbers for eBay but the best thing to do if you have a complaint would be to take the time to write to them, you may not get much of a response but at least you'll be putting your concerns forward. Failing that try e-mailing or getting in touch with a consumer watchdog to voice your concerns about the eBay service.

There is no help line for ebay, the only phone numbers that get reported are either a receptionist who won't help, or a number for top level powersellers where you would need to give your id before they will help.

You could maybe try the live help. That's almost as good as speaking to someone on the phone.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

I know what you mean, i never buy if they dont except paypal but i bought a bag after the seller had in the payment terms 'credit card' so i asked if this was like paypal and she said yes exactly the same.

There was a lot of trouble to which ended in she couldn't accept it and wouldn't send me her paypal address, she said to send cash. It was only £2 so i did (recorded) as i was so fed up with it and didn't want a neg and since then i have not got the item. Seller says they are now going to file a complaint with royal mail. I doubt i'll see the money or bag.

I didn't realise there was a live feedback. Thanks for the tips guys/gals, I shall pass them on to "He who must be obeyed, (some of the time)"
