Following my post yesterday we have decided to go to Scottish Hydro for our gas and British Gas for our electricity.....We took possession of the keys on Friday but literately dumped our things and went again as we our at my mum's picking up furniture...We're going to read the meters when we get back on Tuesday and inform Scottish Power that we've moved in (obviously we'll give them Friday's date of moving in) so they can send us a final bill when we switch....

Only thing that is concerning us will Scottish Power put us on a 12 month contract when we ring them as sometimes happens? The switchover says it can take 4-8 weeks so don't want to be without gas or leccie for that long but neither do we want to be tied into a 12 month contract with Scottish Power when there are cheaper providers out there....

Thanks

it just means that, for the 4-8 weeks while switch is being processed you will still be paying your bill to your existing supplier, you will not be without elec or gas.

Thanks we were rather concerned as we are not sure what the landlord has set up as there was a letter to the occupier saying as we have not received the information we have requested we will assume you no longer wish a supply to this property, hence the worry about cutting us off....
