ooh he looks like a mop on legs!! Good luck with the homecheck - is your garden secure, as this is the main concern of most rescues?

Do go up and visit him - I visited Badger (my dog, in my avvy) in the week I was waiting for a homecheck, alhough I was so scared of getting attached to her, in case anything went wrong with the homecheck - luckily it didnt, and she is here by my feet as I type!

When my mum reserved her dog, another couple had reserved her frst - the rescue said they would judge each prospective adopter on their merits - my mum explained that she was at home a lot, and enjoys hill walking, and went in to see Cleo a couple of times in the week - they decided my mum was best suited to the dogs needs, and because Cleo had met my mum a coupld of times, when we went to collect her she clearly knew my mum was 'her human'!

...So much so that when we got back to my mum's, the phone rang, and when my mum went to answer it, Cleo spent the entire time trying to peer under the gap in the door to see where her new owner had gone!

What a day! He's a collie cross poodle of all things; just 11 months old.

DS was absolutely loving him - he was fetching for her and all sorts though she wasn't quite grasping that if you hold the lead and throw a toy that you'll end up going with the dog! We couldn't get a look in :o

The garden is secure - we have 6 foot fences and one panel of five foot fencing at the back which we are planning to replace anyway. Garden is modest but big enough for a bit of a play and the house is big enough for him too so fingers crossed we'll be okay!

So excited :) Hope everything goes okay. We're going up on Thursday to speak to the vet and then I will take the kids on Sat, Sun and Tuesday and also pop up next week when the kids are at school too. I will pick him up on the following Monday - give him a chance to settle for most of the day before the kids come home and want to play.

    He's simply delicious! Congratualtions!
  • ooh... collie x poodle - you will have your work cut out then - two very intelligent breeds! I hope you like long walks ;)

I suggest asking the vet if they know of any good training classes you can enrol in locally!

Yup, already top of the list! Puppy classes as I think he needs a bit of brushing up, and then I did see flyball on BBC breakfast news the other day - maybe they have something like that near us. We'll have to get him used to the car as well as we can have long walks along the beach at the family holiday home eventually. We're told he likes to play in water - there's a brook through the local park
