I'm pulling my hair out-please help central manchester.

I am looking for a hotel in central Manchester, all the hotel descriptions say central manchester but when you start reading they are 2 km from the shops. Does anyone know of a cheap-ish hotel in central manchester?

    How far is too far?
Travelodge might be an option - there are a couple in Manchester. We've been to the one
    Ancoats
not the best TL I've been to but good enough for a weekend in Manchester but there is one in the centre

I've stayed in the Manchester Central Travelodge a couple of times. Most I paid was £29, and its a 2 minute walk from the Arndale. As Travelodges go its a bit older but the rooms are HUGE and its absolutely fine.

There's also the Manchester YHA in Castlefield, but I've never stayed there.
Do bear in mind there's a free bus service to take you round central Manchester so it may be that a Hotel 2km out has a free bus stop right outside.

I'd agree that you can't beat the Manchester Central Travelodge for location, and it does have (chargeable) parking, although IMHO it is one of the ropier ones in the change - check out Tripadvisor for reviews.

The Premier Inn in Portland Street is also pretty central

Agreed, parking is £7.50 a night. Although last time we drove we parked in Lees motors carpark opposite as the travelodge one was full. Its no cheaper but has very friendly human staff who help you park, and it gets locked up at night.
The Premier Inn is easier to find as it towers above everything and can be seen easily!
  • Hi. If it's the very centre of Manchester you're wanting to be then Premier Inn have one a 2 minute walk away. If you go to their website and search Manchester.... MEN Arena / Printworks and Manchester Central (formerly city centre GMEX) are very close. You will find that everything is pretty much together in Manchester. If you're wanting to spend a bit more money on a nights stay then The Malmaison and The Thistle is where you need to be. The Malmaison is just gorgeous and I personally didn't think much of the The Thistle but it is right in the centre. They are both near the Arndale Centre and China Town. They are also only a 2 minute walk from Machester Picadilly train station.
    Hope this helps.
