Backdated DLA Appeal Payment

Options
I had a DLA tribunal on Friday. I've been getting the lower rate care and mobility for three years and on applying for it to be raised, was turned down. The tribunal overturned that decision though and it has been backdated to the 3rd march this year. Can anyone who has been in a similar position let me know how long i will have to wait for the backdated payment of money owed? Will it be quicker than a normal claim as I'm already receiving DLA? I've looked online and heard 10 days 1 month and even 3 days for it to be paid into bank and would love to hear from someone who was already receiving DLA and on tribunal had it raised and backdated and how long it took to recieve it. It does say on the letter given to me by the tribunal on Friday that they let DLA know of their decision the same day.

Thanks

  • Hi,

I was in a similar postion to yourself and my appeal was on the 1st December last year. The backdated amount was credited to my bank account on 23rd December so it took 22 days.

That might give you a rough idea.

  • Hello,

When the decision is returned to the DWP, they do have to opportunity to appeal the decision, if they feel that it is not correct in law.
I know there is a legal panel member to ensure the decision is correct, but the review by the DWP is all part of the process.
So there will be a period whilst the decision is reviewed, before the payment is actioned.

I would expect any payment to take approx 10 to 28 days,

    Regards

I had to appeal against the decision for my sons dla, we won and the back payment went in at the same time as his first payment.
