Epson stylus PHOTO R265 wont print with compatible Cartridge

Hello all
Please can someone help.

Epson stylus PHOTO R265 - seems to 'know' that compatible cartridges are being used and has finally given a message with a cross on the black cartridge that it wont print. It's on the black at the moment and I have a feeling that when/if I change that one it will then go down the list until all are Epson.
Cartridge from Tesco, which claimed compatibility, not blaming Tesco, have used ones from there before with no problems.

Is there a way to to get the printer to work with the compatibles or will I have to bite the bullet and SPEND big bucks on Epson ones?
Fingers crossed someone can help

I bought all 6 cartridges for my Epson Stylus R265 and was overjoyed. Having bought the printer but then discovered that the cartridges were not only expensive but hard to find in many shops these compatible cartridges were a Godsend. They do exactly as they say the are going to do, excellent quality print and a bargain too. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Defenitely the one to buy if you don't intend to spend too much on the ridiculously overpriced original Epson cartridges. Works perfectly fine with my Epson R265!!! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

    Cheers CHR15
Checked the cartridges and the black one has a little bit missing from the goldy looking surface. Have bought another and hay presto - working fine.

The printer seems to think all the cartridges are Epson now - very strange.

We've had this problem as has a friend who bought an Epson R200. I wonder whether it is due to Epson updates as the cartridges seem to suddenly not work after working without a problem.

When I order the version numbers always seem to increase. Last time it was version 6, now it's version 7. When we first got the printer it was version 4.
  • I got an R200 and I get my compatibles from UKDVDR.CO.UK, cheap and never had any problems
  • I also found this .....

Important Notice – Epson R265 compatible ink cartridges - Please Read Before Purchasing
(If you have previously used compatible inks in your R265 printer, without problem, then please ignore this)

Before purchasing compatible ink cartridges for your Epson R265 printer, please read the following:

Not all Epson R265 printers are the same, so not all Epson R265 printers will accept compatible ink cartridges. This is not isolated to our brands of inks, but to compatible inks in general.

How will I know if my printer will accept the compatible T801 – T806 inks?

This all depends on when your printer was manufactured by Epson.

If your printer was manufactured before 01 March 2007, then our current compatible inks will work.
If your printer was manufactured after 01 April 2007, then the current compatible ink cartridges will not work with your printer
If your printer was manufactured during March 2007, then the current compatible ink cartridges may or may not work, it all depends if you have the newer R265 version of printer. The compatibles only work with the earlier, older version. If you are unsure, we suggest you purchase just one compatible cartridge to test in your printer.
