I'd say thats a a distinct possibility, doesn't sound like there is much communication going on!!:rotfl::rotfl:and a good idea.

Didn't realise Paypal didn't care what was sent as long as a parcel is received...thats ridiculous! I don't know why they bother having the 2 different types of dispute if they aren't even going to check what was in the "received" parcel!
Realistically though, how would they know?
They do (or at least can) check weights (ish) so if the seller sends say a letter instead of a games console then paypal would know, but other than that there is not much they can do.

It is a real pain of a situation though- we've stopped doing SNAD disputes because by the time it gets sorted all the effort and money it is rarely worth it.
We've had 1000s of fake cards come through in the past few months, significantly undercounted orders, damaged in transit due to poor packing, pretty much everything really- so you have my definite sympathy OP.

However as a seller the system is already too open to abuse, so there is not much that can be done.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

It may be easier to get the sellers details from Ebay and give them a ring tomorrow.

    or just ring them

Why not just take the good advice that TWO (now 3 :D) people have already suggested and request the seller contact details from ebay and PHONE the seller?

If you phone him, you'll have an answer straight away, rather than waiting forever for an email reply.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • This is a problem with buying from Ebay.

If you buy from a trader through the usual way then they have to pay for the postage and refund or replace the incorrect item.

However with traders on ebay they hide behind the auction law which absolves the seller from responsibility.

I think this needs looking at from a government and legal level as so many dodgy dealers are using ebay to pass off sub standard commodities and get away with it.

Now do try all the polite ways to honestly get redress.

Ultimately if this fails then your only option is to slate the seller using the feedback system but of course ebay have now watered this down to protect the dodgy sellers.
Failing that you may have to (unfortunately) con someone else as you have been conned or accept the loss or sub standard item. And not use ebay again.
  • You're within your rights to ask them to strip naked. But they won't.

Paypal will ask you to pay the postage costs - completely unfair, but that's the way it works. You can grumble, but you need to return at your cost, with no hope of recompense.

If you want a refund you have to return it at your own expense.
  • A couple of times, I have sent the wrong item. As soon as the buyer told me, I asked them to return and when I sent them the correct item, I enclosed their postage costs, plus a bit extra to compensate for my mistake.

Never occurred to me to ask them to foot the bill
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
