Scottish Power meter readings quarterly?

I'm on the Scottish Power online tariff, and was sent a meter reading request in June. Now I've been emailed another. Has anyone else had this? Are hey no doing this quarterly? I could phone them, but I'm not sure I'm supposed to as the account is online!

  • I think that if you add the months up from June to September, you might also come to the conclusion that it is quarterly.

You can enter your meter readings on Scottish Power's website as often as you like.

I do it every week (only takes a minute) as by doing that you can then see how much you are using.

It also removes their 'opportunity' to increase my payments to fund their business without good reason, as they have a very accurate forecast of my annual consumption.

  • I can see that June to September is quarterly. I was hoping this had happened to someone else. i.e. it is now their policy / new law to do this. Before it was only every 6 months or even annually. I'm not sure I want to get too obsessed with my eletricity consumption, as there really isn't anything I can do to reduce it (every bulb is energy saving, I put flossy the fleece on when it get cold rather than using the heater).

I had the online tariff with Scottish Power for just over two years (just switching at the mo) and they have sent an email around every 12 weeks asking for my meter readings from the very beginning. I expected they would, as I had been used to having to give quarterly meter readings by phone or to a meter reader before I took up the online version.
