Thanks for the great thread )
rev_henry - I dropped my CV into New Look yesterday as it seems most of their branches are still looking for xmas staff. I read on the internet somewhere though that they ask staff to wear clothes only from New Look, hence the 50% discount because you may need to buy a New Wardrobe!

Next are also advertising for xmas staff in most branches.

Just a quick question incase anyone knows: do Boots pay weekends / after 8pm at an overtime rate? Just wondering because I'd need to travel to get there, and am trying to work out if it's worth my while applying as they only need a few hours here & there. Thanks in advance!

That would explain the discount...

I think the boots overtime rate depends on your contract, whether you usually do those hours or not. If you don't then they pay you more when you do do them. If that makes sense.
Beware of their online application system though, its not very well designed.
