Order of Service Booklets and Card advice

I want to make some order of service booklets and I've seen some card on ebay. It says 230 gsm micron. Is the higher the gsm the thicker the card?
Does anyone know if 230 gsm is suitable for the cover of an order of service booklet?
They also have 180 gsm, is that more suitable?
Help!

If you have a "Papermill Shop" near you - you can pick up a big box of card (at least 250 sheets) for about £6. You can pick whatever thickness/colour/texture you want and can also 'pick & mix' - it doesn't all have to be the same

ps To answer your question - yes the higher the gsm the thicker the card. Normal photocopy paper is about 80 gsm as a guideDebt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
Be careful if you want to print on it using your normal printer, some card (including some from the papermill shop) is too thick!"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0

I think we used 180 gsm card for our covers (and they had two a4 sheets inside them). We didn't have to print onto the card though, I did the card decoration to match the invitations, and we just printed onto the normal thickness paper inside. Then used a big extended arm stapler to make the booklets.
Definitely recommend the paper mill for card if you have one nearby.0 -
At the moment I'm using a Lexmark Z23 printer - very old I know but for some reason people keep giving me their old printers and ink so I swap printers as soon as one runs out of ink
Anyway it will print up to 280 gsm card just fine.
Go to the art section in Hobbycraft, they have all sorts of card weights. Choose the one you like in there, then buy in bulk from e-bay.Bulletproof0
