trouble with a new car insurance policy.. some advice needed.

Car Insurance

I recently got a quotation from one of the leading providers. I went with one of the cheapest and as they are well known i thought they might of been the best option.

Ive been on holiday for a week, while i was on holiday i applied for the car insurance online and have now received the documentation.. The letter confirmed that i need to prove that i have no claims bonus's ... if i cant prove this within 10 days an extra 70% will be added and this will be debited from my bank account...

I have been driving 20 years and have 20 years worth of ncp. the insurance was still around £300.00

Should i cancel the car insurance so i think i have the right to cancel within 14 days.. is the correct??

Does the insurer have the right to debit my account? and how will i get proff ive my ncb's as i had serveral insurers and dont think this will be very easy...

  • Your renewal quote from your previous insurer should show the number of years no claims.

If you don't still have the renewal forms give your last insurer a ring and they will be able to post it out to you. Call the new company though to avise them that there may be a delay and they should give you a few extra days to get the proof to them.

Does anyone have any idea what the OP is banging on about here?
  • It is normal for insurance companys to ask for proof of no claims

No insurer gives 20 years of no claims discount.

    Yes.

Your last renewal notice has the number of years of no claims discount on it. You dont need any of your previous ones.

  • Thank you for your comments. Some have been very helpful some people i feel have been rude. Im new to this forum this is why i come online to ask a few questions as was a little unsure.

I have been driving for a number of years and have never claimed. I did compare the different providers and thought this was one a good option. As for "dont you ever read your insurance documents". i have been driving for a number of years and have always been insured. In all this time i have never been asked to provide proof of no claims discount.

As for the price not everybodys is the same as this could depend on the area we live in, your age your occupation and the excess i am willing to pay. also additional things added.

I have got a policy schedule for my previous insurer i will send this to them thanks for that suggestion.
