Chopped them all up & panicked & got one back for dire emergencies. Felt physically sick when I did it but once the blind panic went felt relieved and a month later feel liberated! If I aint got it I cant have it!

  • Cut my credit cards up a good number of months ago. When I balance transfer as soon as the card arrives it gets cut up too :T

Do have a debit card which I use to lift my weekly allowance and pay for ebay postage. Means if there's no money in the bank then I can't be tempted :T

I finally cut up all my credit cards recently which was a big relief - then last week I finally managed to get the last remaining Cerdit Card from my wife and cut that up too...

We still managed to find one card with some available money on it at the weekend though, my wife's debit card for her single bank account. So out that came to pay for something or other... we are seriously awful with temptation.

Once that one's cut up that leaves absolutely zero chance of spending any money that isn't ours. Our joint account is at max overdraft and all the cards will be maxed out but cut up.

I estimate that June will be my first entire month without using any credit whatsoever since I was 17 (that's nearly 10 years ago fact fans...)

As for the debit card, not such a temptation when you know that every penny coming into your account is accounted for by bills, repayments, and eating!

Total Debt: Owe about £19,000 on credit cards plus £24,000 which is my half of joint loans.

I've got one cashpoint card, my Switch got swallowed up in a hole-in-the-wall a couple of years ago:eek:, the bank then gave me a cashpoint card only.

My OH has a Solo card. I have no credit cards at all. I have a cheque book for childrens activities, as there is no guarantee card with it. Ho hum. Needs must and all that. I am quite happy with this situtation though.

I did try cutting up my debit card and just using the passport and chequebook method of going to the bank for cash to stop impulse buying but it was just too darn inconvenient after a while so I re-asked for it.

I always cut up my credit cards - the only slight problem is that when you phone up the bank to get your balance, often they ask you for security details only on the actual card which can be a bit tricky.

You can tell them to ask a different question and to make a note on the account stating that you don't hold a card.
