Shared Ownership Scheme Question?

Hi

I am currently researching the possibillity of buying a 25% share of a flat in a shared ownership scheme, whereby you pay the rent on the rest.

My main query is, in a worst case scenario if you lost your job, would you be able to claim housing benefit on a property that you had a 25% ownership of?

If anyone has experience of a shared ownership scheme and knows about this situation i'd be v greatful.

Cheers

Yes you can claim Housing benefit on the rental share, I almost claimed this when on sick leave and my income reduced. Certainly this was the case 3 years ago when I sold my flat.- i havent heard that is has changed.
