Hi, can somebody give me some advice?
I'm 27 and went for a Dermalogica facial last Thursday as my skin really wasn't the best. The therapist mapped my skin and told me that my skin really was quite dry and there were a lot of bumps on my chin. She said the moisturiser that I was using was just sitting on my skin and not doing any good, neither was the exfoliator I was using.
After she did the facial, she said my skin could break out into spots which would be the spots on my chin coming out onto the surface. On Friday ( a week after the facial) my chin has broken out and I have the most painful red spots which just don't seem to be going away.
I'm looking for some advice as to what people think of Dermalogica products (I have been using them this past week after the facial) and if the spots are connected to the facial? My skin doesn't look any better after using the products for a week and after the facial.

What did that woman mean: your moisturiser is just sitting on your skin? That's what they're supposed to be doing.
A lot of facials can bring spots up to the surface, I understand that's quite normal and that's why she warned you about them. In my opinion you can't expect to see a radical improvement after just one facial and a week of using new products. If Dermatologica products were that good I'd be buying shares and so would everybody else0 -
The spots are pretty normal after a facial.
Dermalogica is a well regarded skincare brand mainly available through beaticians. Certainly a lot of salons around here use it. I have dryish skin and I have tried some samples which were OK but certainly not a wonder cure.
As BitterandTwisted said just a week is not really long enough to see the benefits especially f your face is still settling down from a facial.
If your face feels dry, red or itchy it is possible that you may be sensitive to something in the products. I never try more than one new product at a time so if I do react badly I know immediately which is the culprit0 -
I'd give the product a rest for a few days, so you can seperate out the effects of the facial and the product. Give it a while to calm down and then give the product another try, if it all breaks out again then you know its product related.0

Your skin has a 4 week cycle and its very common for people to break out in spots when following a new skincare routine. Its so easy to give up but it would be worth sticking with it for 3 more weeks if you can. That way you will be able to see how your skin truely reacts to the new products.0
