Thames Water - Combi Boiler Condensate Pipe

I have had an a lot of trouble recently with Thames Water saying that my condensation pipe should run through the foul waste drain rather than be connected to the surface rain water drain.

Both the Gas Engineer and the boiler manufacturer have confirmed this is perfectly ok but I'm still having problems with Thames Water.

Has any had a similar experience with Thames Water and are there any Plumbers out there who can tell me if it is definately ok for the condesate pipe to be fitted in to the rain water drain?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think Thames Water may be right. It depends on the sewerage arrangement and they may know more about that than you or the other engineers.

Condensing boiler condensate drains should not be connected to a rainwater drain if the rainwater and foul water are treated separately by the sewage system.

I think you will find that the reason they say this is that the water is either acidic or alkali I cannot remember which and it will cause problems in rain water pipe but not sewer. Hope this helps.

I'm still baffled as to why the Glow Worm manufacturers website and staff + the Gas Engineer who fits them for the Council say it's perfectly normal.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Fingers crossed I won't be hearing from Thames Water again.
