European forum wanted

Options
It was recently pointed out to me that this site is strictly a UK site. (which wasn't obvious from the banner or forum titles).

Can we get some Euro forums?

I haven't found any good european forums with the same topic coverage.

I think this has been asked before and it was rejected due to legal reasons
  • OP - Martin and his team know a lot about moneysaving and financial stuff in the UK: I'm not sure if his knowledge is wide-reaching enough to cover Europe as well (I don't mean him any disrespect, I'm just saying that his focus is on this country).

MSE going European would mean a MASSIVE increase of work and a much larger Admin team, AND an absurdly large forum.

You would need experts in the ways and laws of dozens of nations and the potential for all sorts of abuse, wrong advice, bickering and so on would be huge. Each country has its own employment and taxation laws, not to mention banking regulations and whatnot.

The bickering and mudslinging would make wonderful reading though. 2qkndok.jpg:D
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Martin's reply below, when asked about a board for ex-pats.

    Hi

Technically the T&Cs of this site demark that it is for UK & NI users and not for others. This is done as its how we have to legally set up.

I didn't realize these forums were simply to consult Martin and his team. Forums typically have experts among the visitors, so this is indeed unusual - but it explains why the geographical scope would be limited.

Perhaps true, but the rationale would be entirely without merit. You don't need an international team of lawyers to host a multinational forum. Britishexpats is a prime example. Even the most paranoid site owner can explicitly state a claim of jurisdiction in their ToS, and facilitate finance discussion at any scope as a service to brits abroad; simply as a security blanket - but it would be just as unnecessary as these silly disclaimers that get attached to corporate emails stating that opinions are of the individual and not the company.

Added to that we're a UK site and that's what we focus on - currently I dont want the time or added hassle of expanding our borders so to speak, however if ever we do change that we'll of course let people know.
