If you dont work then you can put the round in your name and an adult will get paid minimum wage for it, and pass the money onto your son.
i know this can be done although I dont know the ins and outs but it is legit.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -

i am surpised 'paper rounds' (for kids) are allowed nowadays. what with the minimum wage, unsocial working hours, health and safety etc.. i had the longest round when i were a lad, but got the same pay as someone who did two local roads..
tips werent bad at xmas though.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
When I was 14 I had a job at football ground selling programmes (I am now 20 and still do it when not at uni) and used to get paid £20 for 4 hours work, and by work I mean stand at a stand shouting 'Programmes' and selling them. Also going around the stadium at halftime.
I would also get to watch the football game for free.
Basically, check out local football club.0 -
Re minimum wage - how does that work for something that's paid for in piece work rather than by the hour? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Well he got his payslip today - £10.48 (I think, not more than £11) for delivering 161 papers plus the property supplement, plus 2 folded A4 leaflets, plus 2 single sheet A4s plus small Argos booklet. Took 2 of them 4 hours. After much 'heated discussion' (aka WWIII) he won't be doing it again, and they can collect their bloomin' papers from off my doorstep! Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

That sounds ridiculously low wages.
Admittedly I'm an adult but I've done paper rounds for more than a year now. Depends on leaflets really but I average around £50-£60 a week for doing 712 papers a week. Those take me around 5 hours to do (I split them down into 350 each day x 2 days) making it around £10-£12 an hour.
Leaflets bump the price up nicely and recently I got a huge amount one week. Took a lot of sorting but earned more than £80 that week.0 -
It is pretty lousy how they work the pay with the paper rounds, the kids doing exactly the same job in the same weather get a lot less than the adults so if he does want to do it and if it will not jeopardise your beneifts it would work out a lot better for him to 'help' you0

Was lucky with my paper round as a kid. My normal round consisted of around 250 houses... but about 150 of those were flats, only took about 30 mins to do em all and an hour for the rest., letter boxes were fixed heights and doors on top of each other.
The rate was 1p for each 28 page publish, normally got 2p on average per drop.
Leaflets were an extra penny per drop.
Yes the rate is poor - but I think it teaches kids discipline and gives them something to work towards and to respect money. I saved for a good year to buy myself a bike.
My parents would have got me it - but I wanted to earn it.
Remember covering for a few people on week - was delivering well over 1500 papers a week... my back still hurts thinking about it!0 -

Thats dreadful I was getting more than that over 10 years ago. I had two rounds and the money wasn't great but with leaflets it worked out ok.For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0
