Recruitment Subsidy

Hi

I have been given info by the Jobcentre following my 6 month review of the recruitment subsidy, ie employers having the chance to claim 1,000 if they employ me ! Seems like a good proposal for me to put forward at interviews - but could someone let me know whether this still applies if I an not entitled to JSA?

i have just found out that I am unlikely to be awarded income based JSA due to the fact that I have Payment Protection on my mortgage, so even though I will still need to sign on doesn't look like I will be receiving any payments.

I have a couple of interviews next week, and if the scheme still applies to me, I think it would be worth mentioning to the firms in question

Many thanks

As far as I'm aware it is paid to an employer who claims it for employing someone who has been claiming for 6 months or more, I don't think it matters whether you are actually receiving JSA or not as long as you continue with your claim. However, I can't see that having MPP insurance would stop you from receiving JSA IB, it would just mean that you wouldn't receive any additional help with your mortgage, but my benefit knowledge is a bit rusty so I may be wrong about this.

Apparently the fact that my MPP pays out more than I pay on my mortgage (as the insurance also covers life insurance payments and house insurance, together with a small amount of income protection) the additional money is counted as my income, and so they do not think I will be entitled to any money. I think the additional amount adds up to around 250 a month.

It may well be a good proposal in your eyes, however what happens say for example if 20 people on JSA went to the same interview all with the same good proposal then what makes you stand out from the rest of the other candidates.

I will just have to have a more positive attitude than the rest of the candidates won't I
