Virgin Media Phone Bills - Confusing - Misleading - illegal?

Virgin Media Phone Bills:

1) Have only partial detail. e.g. for a £120 bill I only know what £55 of that is actually for.
2) Are hard to understand
3) Make no reference to the contract signed up to
4) Don't explain the charges
5) Are hard to access buried on a slow site
6) Are hard to compare or keep a copy of because you can't easily save the bills only view them on the virgin media site.

  • You can actually print your bill fromt the site.
You can click show me and you will get a list of calls costing over a certain amount.
  • 'over a certain amount' = not everything. I've paid over £200 for charges that have not been detailed.
  • If you have broadband, you should take a look at using VOIP for some of your calls.
I have got rid of my BT landline now and just use VOIP.

That's the whole point, they don't want you to know that they are more than likely most expensive telephony provider in the UK. If you saw the true cost of all the calls you would probably not use them.

With VM it is the short calls that are really expensive, a 1 second call (e.g. answered by voicemail) to a 3 mobile could cost over 37p, a 1 second call to a landline daytime (e.g. answered by 1571) would be 16p.

Shocking prices are to be found here:

if you are spending that level on calls then surely you are better with a higher package?
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/product.do?id=10258 £7.95 with all landline calls free + M TV
of course it depends if you call a lot of mobiles
if itemisation is an issue then why not call VM and get them to drop you itemisation cut off to £0.00?

I fully agree...Virgin media bills make no sense at all.

My latest one has on the front page:

    Balance brought forward: £0.00
    Service charges: £33.50
    Telephone usage charges: £22.33

    TOTAL: £17.30

    Not complaining though...
