Tchibo!!

I am soooooo angry with Tchibo!
A while ago we ordered 3 stair-gates from their web-site. They arrived, but we discovered that they only open one way, and that is the wrong way for our stairs (I want it opening to the left, not the right).
We decided to keep the one for the arch between the hall and the kitchen as that is Ok. Tchibo have a good returns policy so we called them up and they said they'd get them collected. My wife waited in all day (they say 8am to 8pm!) but they didn't come. We re-arranged it and it happened again. And again. After the 3rd time they said they were having problems with their courier company so they booked it with a different one to come yesterday. No prizes for guessing they didn't come either.
This is now 4 times they haven't come, and 4 entire days of her life that my wife has wasted waiting for them.
Does anybody think we should be entitled to some kind of compensation for this waiting? If so, how do we go about claiming?

I would certainly say yes you are and I would write to their HQ and ask for it.
At least they may refund you for all guards and let you keep the one for free.
You could try and get a quote for you to send them the goods back and get it in writing from them in advance they will refund it.
You could try the old MSE trick of boxing them up and getting a free post envelope from this company and pasting it to the box, RM will bill them for the postage, lol. I don't know if it works, but I've always wanted to try it.

I had exactly the same problem when i wanted to return an item to this company. they booked a return date four times and failed to show. In the end I rang up the couriers myself, ( the number was on the outside of the box ) and they came as arranged. I seriously doubt Tchibo's customer service staff ever bothered to contact them. I didnt get compensation but I was really glad just to get rid of the package in the end.0

this may be a stupid question but if you mount them the otherway round do they open the opposite way (so reverse to make left opposed to right)
I know this is the case for other brands of stairgates that open one way onlyBaby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
Can't do that, as then it hits the stairs...
I called them again yesterday and they said they use DHL, so I thought that I'd just call DHL myself the morning that they next come to ensure they are coming, or to offer to drive it to the depot opposite my office instead.
Got home, and there was a "missed collection" card from DHL, who had turned up a day late....
I think we'll call to re-arrange that collection, plus with Tchibo now arranging one for Tuesday as well, then hopefully somebody from DHL will get their useless backside to my house at some point.0
