I suspect that you have been conned and there is no court warrant.

You will have great difficulty proving the conversation between you and the 'meter changer' guy.

They will argue that you just allowed them to change the meter.

    P.S.
I would not try to defend your original action. If you get a bill, you either pay it or dispute it and get a new bill.
  • sorry correction i believe i have got something to fight for after reading through similar posts last night i realise that alot of people have some sort of sympathy feeling that the energy companys are justified .but i feel as if i have been violated
and am going to take this as far as i can .
  • thanks cardew but my argument will be that they demanded an amount which was estimated i informed them of their error albeit by telephone.
they have now fitted a meter wihich is loaded with an amount
designed to repay their fees/charges but they have no record of the amount to which they or i refer.
ie the overestimate in jun has dissapeared from the sept bill after which they still sent out a representative
so how can they justify said charges??

to reiterate the overestimate did not exist when this bloke called??

I would write to EDF(not phone) demanding a full explanation of the events and how much debt is on your meter.

When you have this information, in writing, you can take the matter further with the Regulator/legal action.

There is no point in trying to pursue matters based on alleged conversations.

It is a racing certainty that the 'meter changer guy' will state that he called on you and you agreed to have a pre-pay meter as you couldn't afford to pay quarterly.
