  • Hi all... have received a call today from my broker saying survey will be done on this Fri 20/11.

Does anyone know how long roughly will the formal offer be sent and will there be any extra information needed after the survey?

If Abbey has instructed a survey to be done, does that mean the mortgage has approved in safe hand?

I had my survey done last Friday (13th) - ha, eek didn't even think about it being Friday the 13th! But I got my official mortgage offer yesterday (Tues 17th), it went straight to my solicitor. So I say about 2 or 3 working days after the survey has been done you should hopefully get your offer. If Abbey have instructed a survey that means, in my experience, that the mortgage is accepted subject to survey.

The only thing holding up my purchase now is the ex-borrower (the house is a repossession) has thrown a spanner in the works.. whatever that means, but apparently there are rights after a repossession and the ex-borrower is able to query the sale... If anybody knows anything about this I'd be grateful of the advice!
  • My sister has a valuation booked in with Abbey for Monday 23rd, I don't think the valuation should have any problems. If the valuation goes through OK, what are the chance we could get a mortgage offer next week and has anyone had experience where they ask for more information after a survey is done?

    Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you will need a new offer if the purchase price is incorrect ! The solicitor will insist on it.

We signed friday.Solicitor seen it.seemed fine with it.Abbey said they were ammending the paperwork and faxing solicitor.Solicitor sd if the price had been lower then it wd have been a problem.Paperwork says 174K purchase but is actually 172K.On valuation report, surveyor makes a note that its 172 and not 174 as instructed.
  • We had our valuation done on Monday for the house my sister is buying, although the valuation came a £7k below what we have agreed, I got a call from the broker today saying Abbey have agreed to lend at a lower amount, but we should wait for the offer in writing. IS this anything we should be worrying about, how long does it take to issue an offer normally with Abbey, once they have told a broker that they will lend?

    Thanks
