Going Green in a City Flat

Options
The more I read this forum and watch programmes like the one by !!!!!! Strawbridge last night, the more I want to 'go green' at home. However, it seems really difficult to adopt many of the ideas as I'm a tenant living in a modern city flat. For example, we have a recycling bin in the underground garage but there simply isn't the space in the open-plan kitchen to have separate bins for recycling. I can't compost the kitchen scraps and organic veggie box deliveries are impractical as I'm at work all day.

This got me thinking. Is there anyone else here in the same situation? It would be great if we could swap tips - I love reading some of the other stuff here but get so depressed when I realise that I can't possibly keep chickens in my flat or install solar panels on the roof!

Would the veggie box people deliver to work, is that practical.

Have you got a bag-for-life carrier bag, rather than having a new one each time.

I don't surpose you have window boxes do you?

Will try to think of more.

Hi nabowla. Hope you don't mind, I've suggested this thread as a good one for the new chat forum "Green and Ethical MoneySaving".

You should pick up some good tips there on how to be more green x
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Thanks Jailhousebabe, I was wondering if nabowla would get more help there. Nabowla, if you would like your thread to be moved over to the new Green and Ethical board, let me know.

Sounds great. Had missed the new Green forum - am off to find it now. Hopefully there'll be other people there who are in the same boat as me. Things like supermarket bags are easy to change but it's the stuff like windowboxes that are the real challenge. We're not allowed to have windowboxes - apparently it spoils the appearance of the building!
