Buy now or wait for 2010 model?
Hi,
I am looking to buy a new Honda CR-V. However, a new model is being brought out in early 2010 (prices and dates to be released 31/10).
Am I best buying the current model now or waiting until the new model is available?
Do dealers generally give discounts on cars that have just been released? I can get a couple of grand off the list price of the current model and was wondering if I'd be able to get the same off the new one when it is available.
Cheers,
Gordon.

You'll find good deals just before the new model is released (as dealers try to free up forecourt space), and perhaps slightly more off when the new model is actually released (on the old model).
Don't buy a new car.. it's throwing money down the drain. Get the 2009 model in 2010 for a bargain

But in 2012 they may bring out a facelift. Then do you wait til 2012 for the facelift'd version? But in 2012 they announce that in 2014 they're bringing out an all new model. So you decide to wait a bit longer...0

when the new one is released you will probably find good deals on high spec versions of the model thats just finished, but in return for the good deals and high spec you might find choice of colour or trim is limited to whatever they have left.
the best bet is to keep a close eye on your local dealer, look out for prices dropping or spec increasing,or maybe both. but dont wait too long or you might just miss it....work permit granted!0 -
I have a similar dilema to your...well sort of...so I was interested to hear the comments ..
I want a Kia sorrento (to tow my caravan) and know the new model is looming - March 2010 think. The dealers seem to be offering decent discounts on the lowest spec version (£6000 ish of list) - but not yet on the higher spec. On the lower spec ones now there seems only to be about £1 - 2 thousand difference between brand new and 2006 plates....so I am tempted....
but I'd really like a slightly higher spec and don't know whether it's worth it - from phoning round it seems they are going fast...but if they go fast to be replaced by big discounts on the next new model up I would feel cheated...
....anyone out therewith a crystal ball??:rotfl:0 -
Actually... as a Honda owner . Another CRV is on my 'possible' list at the moment but CERTAINLY not the old model, I too would wait. I especially would like to know what they can get the CO2 down to as my company, like many others now make it worth my while to get a vehicle below 160 as there are financial benefits for both. I have doubts they will manage that though... shame!
The facelifted one address many of the most common gripes about the car - Engine noise: so it gets the new more powerful and much quieter i-DTEC diesel engine with uprated soundproofing. Road noise: Improved soundproofing in the chassis. Interior scratches easily: upgraded fabrics and plastic inside, plus new audio systems. Also gains half leather Alcantara heated seats. Hopefully they have softened the ride a shade as it can be a bit too hard.
As to deals, pricing and underlying discounts on Honda's varies quite often, CRV's are made in Swindon and to balance production at the plant they quietly vary discounts. Also CRV's have good residuals so you may put more in but get more back out. Honda also do some good fixed price service packages.
You may get a bargain run-out model before then but you will lose it as the new model will knock down the old ones value rapidly.0 -
There is a small article and photo of the 2010 crv in this weeks auto express. And I've never found Hondas residuals any better than others, you will probably get more offered for your vehicle on the outgoing model than on the new one, best start doing your homework.
