AArgh!
Applied for an IF ISA - and after two weeks I didn't receive a letter to sign and send back. Phoned IF and they promised to send another.
Large purple envelope arrive today, with 'INTELLIGENT FINANCE' on the front. Some considerate person at Royal Mail also had the foresight to open it for me too! ALL of my personal details are inside, bar the 4 digit security code.
NI number, email, phone, dob, salary, etc all there. Even my current account to transfer the money from.
Naturally I cancelled the application, but I'm fuming! Why are IF so stupid to have sent all my details in such an obvious envelope?
Could anyone provide some advice about what I can do about this? Should I complain to both Royal Mail and IF formally? Would I get compensation - or at least can I get someone to do a bit of a$$ kicking?
Sorry for the rant!

If they require you to confirm the details with a signature, where else could they have put those details, other than in the envelope?0

Seems a bit harsh to blame IF for fact that someone in the Royal Mail interfered with your post! (assuming that's what's happened). Most banking mail has got some kind of identifier on the envelope (return addresses etc) which someone who spends all day working in the postal industry will soon get to recognise.
Have a try at a complaint to the RM (if only for statistical purposes). You might get a book of stamps and a letter of apology.
IF have been using those envelopes for at least 6 years, I doubt they will change.
(There are three copies of my driving licence floating about somewhere as a result of non-delivery  )0 -

Absolutely. I know, for example, that anything that's from Halifax will have a return address of Normanton on it, despite the fact that it doesn't have their logo splashed over the front. And I bet that half of Royal Mail's employees know that Normanton means Halifax. Unfortunately, these companies have to send things out by post, and there's no way that they can do it discretely.
The complaint can only go to Royal Mail, but I doubt you'll get much from it.0 -

No, I did actually mean Normanton. That is a real place, not just a mis-spelling.0 -
