Mechanics help for EVAP fault on 1.8 Picasso

Having recently had car serviced, new exhaust and filters and such we went off on holiday.

After a couple of days we found the engine management light had stuck on, this happened before when we had a bulb blow so replaced and faulty bulbs and problem still present.

Now we are home and light still stuck on have taken it to local garage to go on diagnostics machine. The lad told my partner when it first went on there were 5 faults after resetting the trip 4 have remained. They have the following codes,
P0130
p0135
p0141 and
p0440

The information i have managed to find on line suggests it is either a crimping on one of the oxygen lines or damage to the solenoid. I have rung the garage back as they have said it will be a costly repair due to them having to run along each line in turn.

Is there anyway of reducing costs? I have been told that if i can supply information to them to save huge amounts of work it will be cheaper for us.

For me apart from putting in the fuel and topping up the washer bottle am totally clueless.

Any help whatsoever is greatly received.

  • after a quick google it looks like it might be an O2 sensor. it sounds like your garage is a bit unwilling to even make suggestions on what it could be.
if i were you i would try finding a local citroen specialist who will more than likely have had this fault before if it is a sensor.

They have said as they are not Citroen dealers/ mechanics that their diagnostics machine is not as indepth as the Citroen ones, i have googled the faults myself and saw that two parts are sensors either side of the cat however the main concern is the p0440 fault which is showing up on google as being a solenoid fault but could also be something such as a crimped wire which was present in some faulty cars on release and where asked to be returned to dealership. As it is a 51reg i cant see a dealer wanting to get involved after such a length of time.

I also saw how they can put it on a smoke machine to indicate which pipes are faulty and can be trigging the EML to stay solid.
