Delays with PayPal clearing?

My PayPal account went into negative thanks to a scammer, I've but 2 amounts in to bring it back to zero, one was due to clear yesterday and one today, but neither is showing yet but has been taken from my bank account.

Also in my wife's PayPal account her Quidco payment was due to clear today and hasn't cleared yet either.

I've normally found PayPal clear when they're supposed to (takes long enough!) but anyone else finding theirs is taking longer then normal as well?

Strangely enough both echeques cleared within hours of me calling paypal, a real co incidence?

One was 3 days past the ECD and one was on the second day after the ECD.

Might be sheer coincidence but sent them an e-mail and an hour or two later it's sorted!

    What are e-cheques on paypal.

I had one e-cheque that took nearly a month to clear. I thought the whole idea of paypal was to transfer money throughout the world easily.

    .
An echeque is a purely bank balance funded payment, it means that paypal collect the money from the buyers UK bank account, much around with it for a few weeks (they say it is something to do with them being in the US?) and only then release it to the receiving paypal account.

I may have the opposite happening ! I paid a UK seller (funded on debit card) on 7th May and paypal is showing the transaction as 'Completed' on 7th May, however the money has not yet left my bank account.

Is it safe to assume that the payment has cleared on the 7th to the seller or will it take a couple of days on the sellers side too ?

  • PayPal have had the transaction authorised by the bank on the 7th, Barclays don't remove the funds for a further 3 days
