True, but I replaced the CMOS battery in my Thinkpad in about 30 secs on Mon as the old one had died. Instructions and diagrams on the IBM site. I'd like to think all manufacturers would supply the same info to their buyers.0

Yeh, some are easy some are very hard. Newer ones seem to be easier to work on.0

The best way would be to download the latest bios firmware from here:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Notebooks/us/locoscat/63.html
Then reflash your bios by booting from floppy. That will definately reset it and you won't have to open it up.Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.0
