Good on you Wendy. The Z2 looks great (I must say I much prefer it to the z10).
Just a quick note on the cards. My local Woolies was selling 128MB cards at £7.50 ish they were PNY ones. I picked up 2 for the wifes palm.0 -
Agree with monmer about rechargeable and you can pick them and a charger up on EBay pretty cheap.
One thing to note though I have found rechargeable will lose their charge if left for a long time so if you are aplanning an away trip or something make sure you have topped them all up. I discovered this the hard way the other day.
As for bags if you do not fet one with it, I picked up a super leather one off EBay that holds all my spare kit. Just search around and be patient.
Haven't bought a tripod in years and usually find them too much of a pain to carry around but if you can't get iit thrown in they should not be too expensive.
For anyone else looking for a camera pricerunner have excellent filter options which can be a great help in narrowing down the range that you can afford or fit your criteria. They do not however necessarily produce the best price. So I will normally add about 25% to my limit however this usually means you end up moving your limit up. Such is life!!0 -
I can't wait til Monday - I can't really afford to buy anything else til the end of January so a tripod will have to wait - my husband is already in shock lol lol.....
Hintza - went on your shading tree website earlier today - did you take the photo's on the site?
Well - for once I'm not bombarding you with questions - but hold on until Monday, I'm sure I will be back!
Knowing my luck it will rain constantly on Monday so I won't be able to go out to play.
Take good care all of you and have a good weekend
I know I've said it lots of times - but thank you

It came today !!
I unpacked it, attached the straps and read the quickstart book, downloaded the manual and had a go...
The dog wouldn't cooperate and Christopher got fed up after 3 photo's but I did take 1 that I was reasonably pleased with for a first attempt....
The others were a bit shaky - but hey, its early days yet!
Can't wait for the weekend to go out in the fields behind our house and have a proper go...

Congratulations!
It's great you've got so much enthusiasm about photography. I think digital is an ideal way to learn because it offers instant results and it doesn't cost to practice!
This might seem a bit strange after all that research you put in to find your camera, but the secret to taking good photographs is you! It's the photographer who takes the picture, after all, not the camera (even if it is set to Automatic). A good camera just makes the job simpler!
I hope you've managed to download all your photo-taking attempts to your computer, because the 16MB that came with the camera is going to fill up!
Before you go out into the field, just make sure that you have enough space on your memory card. You don't want to be deleting some photos that you haven't saved just to make room for more! Also bring spare batteries, wrap up warm and be careful of foul weather conditions.
I'd recommend starting simple and using the automatic mode until you're familiar with how it handles. You can experiment with the other modes when you feel ready to.
Above all, have fun with your camera!"...And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, 'cause that's the kind of guy I am this week." -- Homer Simpson0
