    No fixation.

I just find it interesting that the one person who keeps on telling everybody to avoid personal pensions and go with something else is the person who doesn't need to worry about having to make that choice.

Not just one person, EdInvestor does the same.

There are plenty of ways to get financial security in old age. Money purchase pensions ain't worth a light. Put another way they won't do what they say on the tin. Who knows what will be happening decades from now.

You've stated in another thread that a SIPP is an option... You do realise that a SIPP is a money purchase pension scheme, right?

    I doubt it.

He also stated in the same thread that a Personal Pension was a poor choice because you couldn't access it until you are 55, and then listed a SIPP as a far better choice

If i was planning to retire in England (which I'm not), I would have great delight in offering The Economist a part-time job mowing my lawns.

Not retiring in England whys that then. Is it because your Pension wont go that far here? ;)
If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.

No need to worry yourself about my pension, pal. I could happily retire tomorrow if I wanted, in the UK or anywhere else.

My plans to retire overseas (where I have lived for 18 of the last 20 years and where I already have my retirement property) are purely personal.

Glad to see the bickering has come to an end ;)

OK,so I've been in touch with Phoenix. There are no options to move to another fund but I do have an up to date value. As of 10/07/09 the funds value was £14,000 but by 21/09/09 this had increased to £17,700,an increase of around 27% in just over 2 months. That's better than the FTSE I believe over the same period.
I intend to seek the advice of an IFA but would welcome suggestions as to wether I should stay with Phoenix, transfer to another companies Stakeholder scheme or to a personal pension and which companies I should be looking at.
It's all very well me reading performance tables but as we are constantly told past performance is not an indication of future performance
    Thanks
