Comet Repair/Replace, Where do I stand?

Hi,

I bought an Acer laptop less than two weeks ago and it appears to have an intermittent fault with the wireless network card. Comet say they have to send it back to Acer for repair which will take aprox five days. I'd really prefer a replacement or refund. Does anyone know what my rights are as comet are refusing to replace or refund until acer have checked the unit over? Hmmm!!! This doesn't help me much when I need my laptop for work on Monday.

Many thanks to anyone that replies

  • From a rights perspective, I'd say you may well be entitled to an exchange. PC World and Currys will, for example, replace an item in the first 28 days, and after that we send it for repair.
Have they witnessed the fault in store? If it's intermittent, maybe they're trying to establish whether it's actually physically faulty?
Any advice or opinion is only informal advice to the best of my knowledge. Just covering my back, yadda yadda.
  • Hiya,

Thanks for responding. I left the laptop with Comet so they could discuss the problem with Acer. Unbeknown to me they have already sent it back to Acer so really I suppose all I can do now is wait. I'm a bit miffed they didn't discuss this with me first.
