Flight Centre ... Clearly Do Not Want My Money!!

Phoned at 9am
FC agent picked up, I was advised they were with a customer, gave details of the flights I wanted to purchase today - was told they would phone back in 20 minutes.
No call.
Phoned at midday - spoke with someone from different branch (national number seems to divert me to random places)
Spoke for about 5 minutes, confirmed all details, agreed would offer lower flight price (I have searched thoroughly - very good price not comparable anywhere else online plus free hotel stopover)
Said would send email through with all details.
No email
2.30pm I phoned again (had direct line this time) was told she's on the phone but she was just getting onto it
No email
4.10pm Phoned again - was told she's still on the phone but that the email had been sent ten minutes ago - checked inbox again no email.
I said if I don't receive the email confirmation by 4.30pm as I want to purchase the flights today I will be going elsewhere. Was asked to "oh please, just give her another ten minutes"....!!!
If they weren't offering the best deal and free stopover hotel thrown in would have puchased online long time ago. But at the moment, every penny counts and have saved so hard to get flight costs.
Do they not want my money?! Apparently not.. just checked email again, no sign of it... right off to purchase somewhere else.

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face - if they have the best deal by far, it's unlikely that you're the only one to spot it, so I can understand them being busy. I know it's annoying, but I wouldn't spend more money just to teach them a lesson as it probably won't affect them, but it will make a difference to you. Unless you are concerned that you will need after-sales care, I would stick with them - after all, their prices probablty wouldn't be so good if they had more staff available to talk to you!0

I wouldn't purchase tickets that were that more expensive and never did I say to 'teach them a lesson' ! In fact, just checked online and fares must have moved in the course of the day as I've just found same flights for £15 cheaper. Deal. Done. It's just frustrating to be told they will absolutely cross my heart promies we will phone you back in 20 minutes at 9 this morning or that the email had been sent to you ten minutes ago - when neither contained a shred of truth.

Glad you found a good deal in the end - didn't mean to imply that you were being vindictive, just that in the heat of the moment it can seem like good revenge to take your custom elsewhere, but sometimes it is worth hanging on for a good deal even if they don't make you feel like spending your money there!0

Flightcentre have never called me back when they say they will
So I don't even bother inquring anymore0 -
Interestingly :rolleyes: I have been ringing around today for flight quotes and although Flight Centre wasn't the very cheapest, the agent I spoke to was lovely! She said she'd ring me with the quote within an hour - she rang 40 minutes later with all the info I wanted and we had a very pleasant chat, too, despite me saying I wasn't booking today. She said she'd email me all the details, and no sooner said than done - I was impressed, after reading the above accounts, lol! Maybe it's down to the individual agent........[0

Think you luckily managed to pick the small percentage of Flight Centre staff who actually call back / email Bennifred!
PS: still no call or email!! crazy eh! ...
not that I'm looking any more, however perhaps naively I thought with the climate the way it is just now the 3 FC staff I spoke with would follow up any leads (especially as I was buying that day) - afterall they've lost commission for two long haul flights I purchased elsewhere. But oh well, got flights elsewhere at a good price so I'm happy.0 -
I used to work at Flight Centre, I can tell you the reason you were not called back, is because my company was making absolutely no money out of you, as you were what we call a "pricebeater". We offer a service, we are a business, and people that just go and check prices on the internet should just book on the internet and not expect any of the service or after sales care that Flight Centre provide. We do have a price beat guarantee, but because we are under such pressure to sell and make commission, you were probably pretty low on the priority list, I'm sorry to say. They were probably only going to book your trip because they had to- because it states in our terms and conditions that we must guarantee to beat any price, otherwise you get the flight for free.0
