How many gb for listening to audiobooks on mp3?

My son listens to story cds every night and I was thinking of getting him a mp3 and downloading him some new stories on it for xmas. However as the stories are quite long I don't know what would be a good gb would be to get.

Not sure what you're asking here... do you want to know what size of MP3 player to get?

To give you an idea of the size of audiobooks, Crime and Punishment is about 350Mb so if you had a 40Gb player you could fit it on almost nine times.

If you just want a few books on at a time, then you would be fine with a budget MP3 player - I'd say go for a minimum of 2Gb in case he wants to put some music on it too.

It all depends on the audio quality that you want in MP3 format, for just speech, usually 96kb is fine, for music at least 128k as the minimum. The higher the quality, the larger the file size. I have a 20GB MP3 player and I'm really happy with it. The size of storage will determine how often you need to remove and upload files. Battery life is another consideration as well as cost. 2GB might be enough for your son's needs.
