Welcome PPI

A few years ago I had a secured loan with Welcome, taken out in Jan 05 and settled due to remortgage in Aug 05. I'd taken the ppi as I was told no loan without it but when it came to claiming on it I was told I couldn't. Fast forward to last month, I sent a Sar to Welcome as now got car finance with them, and was expecting to get info and details of the loan with a view to claiming ppi back. Recieved sar back but with no mention of anything to do with loan, so wrote and explained that I wanted all details, inc loan, their reply being that what they had sent was all they held on me. So how do I proceed with claiming the ppi back, I have no account details for it, and seem to have drawn a blank with Welcome providing them. Any ideas?

As regards the actual complaint, I would just send a complaint letter recorded delivery and put you name, address (any previous if its changed) DOB etc and say that you had this loan with PPI and want to make a complaint for misselling. Is there any way of proving it was settled in August perhaps from a mortgage statement?0 -

Hi there.;)
If there is no agreement enclosed with the SAR you can try to request for this by enclosing a £1 postal order or cheque payment, however, some have said as the account is settled they don't always receive them, but give it a go, they have 12 days to send this.
In regards of the account number details, check old banking statements, if you still have these they should show details of the repayments on a monthly basis, the account number should be next to that.
However, if you can retrieve the account number details, maybe don't worry about requesting for the agreement, they may send a copy when you first complain, which then will be free.
For information on reclaiming PPI, write to them, if you have your account number, still try otherwise by giving them as much details as possible, in order for them to track this down.
They have 8 weeks to resolve in full, keep at them until they resolve in your favour, or until they issue you with the final decision, this should also enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), if eligible you should be able to take your complaint to them if your not happy with the outcome.
Was it Welcome Finance who sold you the finance?
You write to the ones who sold you this loan, so if a broker you write to them.
Here is a link of Martin's useful guidelines of reclaiming

You will find a checklist of mis selling reasons
Templates etc.
You do not have to use the templates if you don't want to, but as a guide with your own words, and of course your reasons.
You do not have to write the amounts though.
