Loft insulation - should I go for npower's help?

we we're going to get loft insulation AND cavity wall insulation through Npower.
However, after numerous calls and promises of someone coming round to measure up, no one ever came.
Someone up the road was having theirs done (by a company called Millar Pattison) so I asked them if they would give us a quote.
the guy said it was them who do the work for NPower and by going straight through them would be cheaper. and it was - by £50!!
We got the loft done a week later (someone cancelled!) and the walls 3 weeks later!:think:0 -
I think B&Q are doing their buy one get one free offer again - i went in the other day and they had pallets of the stuff.
I did this at the start of the year when their last offer was on, a 3 bed house done in about 3 hours for less than £50.
The only issue was getting it in the car, so it took a couple of trips but they had plenty.
Much cheaper than getting the 'pro's' in.2014 running challenge 471.95 km / 1000 km.0 -
they have just finished mine , they were very quick /polite. they also insulated the hatch door [never thought of that !]This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

We have a three bed detached house, so even it you needed twice or even three times as much, its still cheaper than getting someone else to do it for you.
cost isnt the only issue though its the time to do it which in our case both working fulltime a child with health issues theres very little left. we we are happy to pay to have it done properly and quickly now i dont have to think about it for a long while. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. How long did it take for them to come and do it after the survey? I think £150 is a very good price. To do my loft, it took about 13 rolls to get it to 270mm. Admittedly I only had a token measure of loose fill insulation. Mind you, it has made my house noticeably warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. I told my mother about this deal and the surveyor is coming out in 7-10 days time.0 -
We had our loft done under this scheme for £200 (the maximum you should have to pay. Very good and done in a couple of hours.
As for storage. I asked for an area of the loft to be left uncovered (only the previous insulation) as I felt the stored boxes would themselves provide some insulation.
Also, as our roof has rafters and purlins rather than modern trusses I was able to bridge a couple of cross ties with chipboard to form 'shelving' for lighter items.0 -
it took 2 weeks , they could have come sooner but it wasnt convenient , it took them 40 mins from comming in the door to leaving. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Well what a nice co-operative company you got! My quoter was most unhelpful, said it was all or nothing and I couldn't leave any part uncovered. If I did, I wouldn't get the help towards the cost and would have to pay double for the bit covered by the offer - the npower aid only covers 80m2 of loft area so that would mean an extra £140 to pay.0 -
Just had a guy round from a small company who are working on behalf of Npower and siad he coudlnt do me cavity wall insulation because the road was too far away  so told him not to bother with the loft insulation.
Anyone know of a company who may be able to do both for me in the Tameside area?0
