Hi,
Sorry to be a saddo. If it helps, there is a greengrocers in London Road in Rayleigh (opposite side of road to Sweyne School, in a parade of shops further along). Think there may also be one (or used to be) at the Golden Cross shops in Rochford, which is along the Ashingdon Road.0 -
thank you SFB, would press the thanks button but its gone....
I will look up those locations on the map & check them out!

There are a couple of greengrocers in Worcester city centre but I prefer to use farmshops.I think these have become the 'new greengrocers'.I know these aren't an option for everyone especially if you live in a big city, but check out Big Barn http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/food/articles/index.php?articleid=198
Choc Clare I was going to mention fishmongers too,There used to be one here but it's gone now(mind you it was pretty poor).
How I would love to be able to walk down my local Hight St and go to a butcher, baker, greengrocer, chemist, fishmonger, ironmonger, grocer etc etc.I'd carry my wicker basket,or ride my lovely Pashley Princess(old-fashioned style bike with a basket). There'd be a library and a nice little tea shop too.Oh and I'd be able to do all my shopping for 10 bob!0 -
So found a greengrocer the other day.
It was quite nice. Only the strawberries were nasty.
Will go there again.

from Thriftlady - How I would love to be able to walk down my local Hight St and go to a butcher, baker, greengrocer, chemist, fishmonger, ironmonger, grocer etc etc
well I have to admit, that I can walk down our local road, (it's not the high street, but another thru road) and I CAN go to the butchers, bakers, 2 greengrocers, chemist and grocers, we also have 3 coffee shops - all independant's, and on Friday's we have a fish van, we also still have a POST OFFICE, a couple of off licences and a 2 newsagents.
So maybe things up north are better than down south!! we're also getting a big continental farmers market thing next week, so should be good.0 -

It'll tell you where the farmers are. Essex still produces good food so you can't be that far away from some really nice producers. there is bound to be a pick your own or nice farn shop not too far away.
I know they have a nice farmers market at Leigh on sea which is not too far away from you - might be worth popping down to when you get time. From there you'll be able to get some of the stall holders to deliver stuff once you've met them and their produce.
we get lovely stuff sent to our market from essex0
