Car hire problems
                    HI , i wondered if anyone ca help with rights when it comes to car hire !
ive had problems with 2 companies in the past . And this time a spent weeks checking all the prices and comparing and adding up costs and eventually booked with hertz to pick up in france and pre paid and booked 3 car seats and paid before we went . After our return we have been charged £86 on the visa which they took for swipe on pick up and when questioned what it was for , i was told that we returned the car the following day and car seats charges . i was fuming and complained and advised that the staff were on way out and just told us to post keys the eve before and i was def on time in returning car and that the car seats were pre paid , but hertz are refusing to refund saying car seats are charged locally and nothing they can do about it .. but if i had known was going to be that expensive i would have taken my own ... where do i stand ??

            In my experience ALL car hire companies charge for the seats localy and in addition to the hire cost. When you book on line they usually ask if you want seats, but tell you it will be charged localy.
 Just looked on the Hertz site and its pretty clear to me - for pre paid bookings they tell you the amount you are paying up front for the car and the additional charges to give a total estimated cost.
 Regarding returning late if the office had shut then technicaly you were late as you returned out of office hours - the hours or opening are advised to you when you book
 Not what you wanted to hear, but think this is your mistake not theirs0
