I also clicked on the link and received the same message and I know for a fact I never ordered one before.... indeed, I don't even actually know what a colourcatcher is (but I am intrigued now).

Anyway, as for the washes, I do whites and pales together at any temperature between 40 and 60 depends what the garments are. I then do all my darks and colours together with confidence because I wash them on the cold cycle and there never is any spillage of colour, not even from reds. Sometimes I wonder if the cold cycle is enough to properly wash clothes but I've been doing this for about 2 years (since I got my current WM that does allow cold washes) and the clothes look and smell fine so I hope this is ok and I'm not breeding a bacterial colony in my wardrobe.... now that would be a thought!
  • Like many others I sort the wash by colour and temperture:
    Lights 40 & 60 degrees
    Darks 40 & 60 degrees
and the occasional other wash for special fabrics. Don't have a problem with running colours.

Maybe the "=already" at the end of the link explains it.

    Try this instead http://www.colour-catcher.co.uk/free_sample.php

Aldi had some not long ago, 8 in a box and each one re-useable for 10 washes. 1.99 if I remember rightly, worth having a look for if you're in there although I went to get some for a friend and they didn't have any left.

I reuse colour catchers - they work more than once. Sometimes they come out hardly coloured at all, which to me is a green light to putting them in the cupboard for next time. I'm no domestic goddess, but between the two of us we tend to do a dark or light wash (for dark read 'most colours'!)

I got the colour catchers because I was fretting about my lovely new bedding, which is deep burgundy, salmon pink and white... (sounds horrible probably.. but I wanted to keep it those colours!) Luckily the cats saved me the worry and clawed it a lot instead :/

My mum's a great believer in separating washes - no grey knickers!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • Same here, I just do dark wash and light wash, As there are 6 of in
the house it saves time lol
  • Thanks for all good ideas - I do colours and whites separately and different temperatures too but sometimes new clothes (tho there are fewer of those these days) still run even if they're paleish colours and OH is unbelievably fussy (you just have to see how very seldom a colourcatcher comes out white to see this) . I also had a traumatic moment when I washed DD's boyfriend's favourite sweater and turned everything red. I'd rather spend a few extra pennies and not take the risk of all that guilt again. But I had wondered about re-using them, so thanks frivolous_fay, I'll try that, and cutting them in 3 is something I'd never thought of, so thanks for that tootsiepops. have now done Botany's link and they say they will send me some - so thanks again Botany.

    I do a:

*dark wash ie black/navyreally dark things
    *pure white wash
*colours wash which i put in all other colours

    Ditto!:money:
Plus separate washes for towels and bedding.

I only use a colour catcher when washing my sons football shirt - bright red with white collar and cuffs (don't want the white to turn pink!) and also his footie socks - bright green with white tops.

Also I'm careful when washing any new items for the first time.
