Hello,
I've found somehwere I'd like to rent. I am going through an agency. I have recieved the tenancy agreement and have had a read through it but I'd just like some advice, if possible, from those in the know about these kinds of things.
The (six-month) TA states that I am required to give three months' notice if I want to leave. Can this be enforced? It seems a bit strange to me. I always assumed that at the end of the term, anyone could just up and leave. Also, a section 21 has been issued to me for posession on the date the tenancy finishes. Does this make the '3 months' clause un-enforceable?
Also, the address provided to me for contacting the LL is the office where they run their property agency from. Doesn't the LL (by law) have to provide me with his home address?
I can't get onto Landlordzone so I apologise for posting here.
Thanks for reading.

Here is a guide for tenants on Assure Shorthold Tenancies
http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/housing/assuredassuredtenants
A Landlord must give you two months notice.
You must give the landlord 4 weeks notice (if rent paid weekly) or 1 months notice (if paid monthly)
(NOTE: From the rent due date)
You do not need the LL's contact details, especially if the letting agent is managing the property, however there are other means of finding out the owners of the properties contact details
Hope this helps:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

""I always assumed that at the end of the term, anyone could just up and leave."
you are absolutely right here - but it is polite to tell the landlord a month in advance thta you are leaving
A LL has to provide an "address for service" where documents can be received - it does not have to be his home address
this sounds like an amateur landlord to me - i personally would steer clear and find somewhere else to live - if they dont know the basics of Notice will they be protecting your deposit and giving you a Landlords Gas Safety Service etc etc etc0
