solicitors fees

Can anyone advise me on solicitors fees, I have just received a quote of £1300.00 incl of VAT, which sounds pretty high, as we are not buying a home only selling, any advice gratefully received. Thanks

It does sound high, but would need to know which area you are in and what type of property you are selling to really compare.

Frankly, it's outrageous for almost any size of property. When you sell the solicitor doesn't have to be proactive at all or be responsible for any due diligence as such.

Many solicitors do step up their charges based on the property price but I'd find someone else - your house must be worth over a million for them to charge that with a remotely straight face. I'd use a cheap conveyancer for £250 who don't differentiate so much between property price rather than pay that much!

Are you sure they haven't accidentally included cost associated with a purchase?

For selling, £450 plus VAT, plus about another £60 for bank transfer and land registry fees.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.
