How can I predict entitlement with change of circumstances?

Hello, I'm sorry to make my first post as a request for help but wondering if anyone can...

I am a lone parent in receipt of IS, HB/CTB. My brother has just asked me to consider him living with me for a few months whilst he finds his feet starting a new business. He would be on a low income during this time and I think would be receiving WTC.

My question is, if I allow him to stay how would it affect my own benefit entitlement? I don't think he would be able to make any contribution towards living costs or bills during this time and I would like to know how to find out in advance of agreeing to anything! Also, as it would be short term and he is liable to get 'itchy feet' I am wary of causing too much financial confusion and paper work that I'll end up paying for...

Thank you,

dumpling.

You would loose your single discount on your council tax, and he would be classed as a non dependant for HB purposes, however if he isn't earning very much I think it may not be a huge amount to pay.

    IS won't be affected.
