tax credits gone up?? why!!

why are people on this forum cruel?

  • did you have child turning 16 since 01-09-2008 who is continuing in education (these are processed from September)?
    Could be that there was a correction made to the award (like a spelling mistake, or a missing ref number), which has recalculated the payments again (leaving the award unchanged, but generating a one-off payment).
    Can't really thing what else this could be - give them a call so they can have a look.
  • Mine went up the other day and so did our rent :mad: I contacted them to make sure they had all the details correct. They hadn't, then they informed me they had my partner down as working 15 hours instead of 21 :confused: I stated she couldn't get tax credits for working them hours and they said that was correct and said an adjustment would be sent out showing the over payment.:eek:

    Any way had a letter from them today, back to normal as they mis spelt her name "likely excuse" no apology though and nothing mentioned about the 15 hours either.

    Housing benefit must think I'm winding them up :rotfl: I need to inform them every week about my wages as they change all the time as I'm self employed.:o
