Quanti thinks I am a rogue spider - help!

I was on Quanti when I suddenly got a message "Rogue spiders & crawlers are not welcome here - you have been banned. Good bye."

It came when I clicked back on a "new topic" submission...
I'm quite new on there and was just sharing some discount codes (entered some a week or so ago and it was fine so I doubt that's the problem). Anyone know what I have done wrong???

I've tried deleting Quanti cookies but it hasn't helped. I was logged in at the time so they have probably blocked my account. I can't access their entire website now so I don't even know how to correct this error.

Anyone have any idea how I let them know I am not a spider (rogue or otherwise)?
(Anyone even know what the mysterious message means? Is it like a bot?)

1. What is Quanti?

2. Do they have a customer care phone number or email you could contact them on and by not going into your account?

(3. not really offering a discount- may find you get better responses on the shop-but-don't-drop board)

I'm sorry to hear that pineapplejelly. We have a "trap" installed on our website which bans certain visitors if they access forbidden area. Normally, it's targeted on spiders and crawlers which do not obey a special file with instructions of what can be crawled and what can't. It works like that:
1. do not access this_file.txt
2. access all other files
Google, Yahoo and all other "good" spiders obey it but first thing all spiders designed to harvest email addresses from websites etc. do is - guess what - access this_file.txt. And they got banned for a few weeks.

The whole trap is transparent to normal (human) visitors and we haven't had any problems with it. One of our members was accidently banned a few days ago for some reason. Clearing cookies does not help since we identify banned users in a more sophisticated way.

Apologies for this inconvenience and rather harsh message. It's all designed to combat spam and rogue spiders. I have removed the ban and you should be able to login and access our website again. I'll keep an eye on this trap now and manually check each ban so should this happen again in the future to anyone - please wait a few minutes/hours and try to access our website again.

Thanks a lot! It all works now. No idea what I did wrong in the first place but as long as it doesn't happen again I don't mind! :beer:

Sorry about the late reply, but Quanti is a forum for discount codes, etc., which is why I posted it in this board as I thought members on this place might be more likely to know about them or understand the message. They are mainly for cashback as their representative explained above.

Hi quanti company rep,

When I log into your main site for some reason firefox will not remember it, not for either the main site or the forum.

I am a member of quite a few sites and save user names and passwords for all of them and it does not happen with any others apart from 1 forum and in that case it will remember for the main site.

Is it just me with this problem? its very strange. Can any other firefox/quanti users please let me know if they are experiencing the same problem

I was going to ask on the forum but there doesnt seem to be any easy to find place for support questions the threads are all randomly placed with no dedicated areas which is a bit tedious to trawl through

Unfortunately Firefox will not remember your credentials since during the login process only the small portion of the page is refreshed (i.e. login box) and not the entire page like on other sites (techie stuff: AJAX powered website). It makes the site much quicker and better to navigate since you do not need to reload the entire page - just a small bit. Unfortunately, Firefox struggles when it comes to remembering your details. Having said that - we are currently working on a feature which will successfully combat this problem

Thanks for the explanation, I thought it might be just me but asking on other threads after I posted this I realised I wasn't.

Can you let us know when the problem is fixed if possible as even though I'm a member I don't use it because of that problem. I know I will get fed up of logging in every time so I'd rather start when I know I can be dedicated to visit every day
